This series, “Nos Fils” (OurThreads), was created in 2025 within a traditional weaving workshop.
Located just a few kilometers from the coastal town of Mahdia, in southern Tunisia, this atelier has long worked to preserve the ancestral weaving skills of a region renowned for its textile heritage.
Each piece is made entirely by hand on artisanal looms, using only natural materials—cotton, linen, silk.
There, thousands of threads stretch and intertwine; warps are drawn tight, patiently awaiting the wefts that will cross them, bringing to life subtle harmonies of color and pattern.
The rhythmic clatter of pedals fills the room, and the feet dancing upon them trace a mysterious ballet, performed with instinctive perfection.
It is by diving into these looms that the series was born—a visual and metaphorical exploration of the paths we weave through life, where time etches both choices and destinies.
At the heart of this transformation—from thread to cloth—emerges the quiet, intimate atmosphere of personal transition.
These moments often unfold slowly, thread by thread, detail by detail, tracing the blurred lines of something both old and new, not yet fully formed.
It is a contemplation of time passing, and of the traces it leaves behind—all those small shifts that gently move us toward another version of ourselves: toward adulthood, toward new identities, new skins, new textures…
Behind each transformation lies also the quiet ache of nostalgia—for what once was, and will not be again.
But this is not only an individual journey. Our lives are intertwined, interwoven, inseparable. Ultimately, this series asks what we collectively might be capable of becoming.
